Daytrotter had Dawn Landes in studio last Friday. Apparently, 2010 was a busy year for Ms. Landes. She’s toured most of the year in support of Sweetheart Rodeo (2009). Part of that tour included a jaunt through Europe with husband, Josh Ritter. While on tour, they covered Heady West’s 500 Miles and made that available for the price of an e-mail. Earlier this year, Landes visited the Hear Ya Studios. The videos and mp3s from that session are available here.
I’ve always enjoyed Landes’ work. She likes to dabble in folk, county, and pop music, and is not pretentious about her approach. I think that sometimes she gets overlooked, because she’s not out there making a “statement” by trying to emphasize something that is definitively “Dawn.” Instead, her music has an intrinsic appeal. Sometimes good is just good, and I’ll leave it at that.
